Review of the Foreign Language Concept for Primary and Secondary Schools in Basel-Landschaft

The Institute compiled a structured bibliography on the characteristics of foreign language teaching in Swiss schools for the project ‘Review of the Foreign Language Concept in Primary and Secondary Schools in Basel-Landschaft’. In particular, publications from the years 2011–2025 were considered, focusing on the following characteristics of foreign language teaching:

1. Pupils: motivation, interest, abilities, competences, performance, socio-demographic/socio-economic background, language and identity, etc.

2. teachers: qualifications, motivation, professional development, etc.

3. the class and school

4. of the teaching: methodology, didactics, learning objectives, teaching materials, duration/number of hours, implementation of exchange programmes, immersion, continuity when moving between school levels, etc.
